One could gush over what is available at the Saturday market in the Arcata Plaza these days. In earnest have I been waiting for the best time to buy a case of Peas. Over at McIntosh’s table, with a halo around it, a box overflowing with that unmistakeable pea green. Some moments fill me with gladness that I chose patience.

Empanada
French Green Lentils stewed with Garlic, Onion, Fennel, Carrot, and Dark Leafy Greens. $5 ea.

Mung Bean Crepe
filled with a salad of Broccoli, Raisins, Peas, Carrots, Radishes, Cabbage, and toasted Sunflower Seeds, dressed in a Cashew-based creamy Basil dressing. $7 ea.

The West is the Best Burger
A deeply savory, baked patty of roasted Shiitake, Quinoa, Black Beans, and Beet, served with handmade condiments: Mustard, Tomato paste, and a slathering of thick, cheddar-style Dilled Cashew spread. This burger is served on a toasted Sesame bun, made by Heartfire Bakery, who specializes in gluten-free, artisan breads and baked goods.
